HubSpot Learned That When It Comes To Customer Success, Everything Counts In Large Amounts

Adrian Swinscoe discusses the difficulties companies face when it comes to how good they think their customer service is versus how good their customers think it is. He talks about there being two major reasons for this gap. The first is that when companies focus too much on growth they tend to forget their existing customers. The second is that keeping up with customers ever-changing expectations is a difficult task. He elaborates on the first point by adding that companies can get wrapped up in the excitement of new growth and technologies and the reason they forget about their existing customer base is because they tend to assume that the way they have always treated their customers will always work for those customers. Because of this, changing the way they deal with existing customers is seen as mundane and unimportant to them.

He continues on to talk about why it is so important for companies to not fall into this way of thinking and to instead focus on how they can improve what he calls the ‘sharp edges’. He declares that when companies work on constantly improving their relationships with existing customers it can have a significant impact on keeping their revenue up and keeping their customers happy so that they do not leave. He concludes by encouraging companies to look at their current approaches to maintaining and improving customer satisfaction and states that even a little effort in this direction can lead to significant improvement.

Why Should You Create A Prototype and What Tools You Can Use?

Often, just describing the website or app that you want to create isn’t enough to explain your concept to your clients. It’s better to create a prototype. With a prototype, you can communicate your ideas to a client, and they can give you feedback, without you spending (and possibly wasting) a great deal of time or money.

A prototype also lets your whole team work together to develop a concept while letting your clients give input at all stages. It lets you and your client flag potential problems early, and it lets your client feel involved. That, by the way, will increase the chances that your client will green-light the next stage of the project.

Lots of tools are available for creating prototypes, each with its own strengths and weaknesses, so it’s a good idea to decide what’s most important to you before choosing a tool. Among the possibilities are Axure, Balsamiq, JustInMind, Mockplus, and InVision. Each has pros and cons. Axure, for instance, is powerful but not for coding beginners; Mockplus uses drag-and-drop features, so no programming knowledge is needed. Balsamiq lets you create quick but not particularly detailed prototypes; JustInMind has far more details but also takes longer to learn to use. InVision lets many designers work together.

Whichever tool you use, prototyping is a good way to begin your project.
